The art of branding your business by creating a metric

Metrics are part of our lives. They can be used to identify us, as is the case with the German passport, which shows height. Today, metrics can be understood as a much broader concept that is not only related to the meter. In business, we understand metrics as everything that is measurable and it goes far beyond its historical roots.

What many people are looking for through metrics is social proof so that they don’t have to rely solely on their own judgment. That way, we can blame others if we have chosen the wrong store to buy clothes, change tires or any other type of offer that requires some trust from the consumer.

Especially in the world of SEO, metrics are very popular  reading up to here do you   to describe the “authority” of a domain. To put it very simply, we can understand the authority of a website as the degree of trust that Google has in that site when recommending another site through a link. Metrics    material data  such as Page Rank (according to this German website, it has died for good ), DA/PA, Ahrefs, CF, TF, etc. have emerged to quantify something that supposedly only Google knows.

Although it is not exact and can be falsified, it is very popular because it places a website on a map and makes it comparable with others.

Practical cases of metrics that increase the prestige of users and business

One thing is clear. Humans love to compare themselves with others, even if it is just to complain . Companies should take advantage of this human weakness to do branding and reinforce their brand image.

There are some examples where a metric reinforces both the image of the consumer and the company:

The TOEFL exam and the points obtained on it are a metric to quantify the mastery of English as a foreign language. For the company that administers it, it is a sign of quality because it applies a recognized standard.
Michelin stars represent a great prestige for a chef. For the person who visits the establishment. It is a seal of quality that also provides the personal prestige of being able. To say that they have eaten with someone who has been awarded this prize.
